White House, Ford's Theater and Nat'l Archives

Breakfast at Wicked Waffle near Farragut Square. It wasn't what I expected but wasn't bad. We walked the 2-3 blocks to the north facing part of the White House. Will and I got in a little catch with the baseball across the street in Lafayette Square. After taking a bunch of photos, we walked to Ford's Theater where Lincoln was assassinated. We got lucky and arrived just in time to get into the museum, get the ranger talk and tour the Peterson house across the street where Lincoln actually died. We got a quick bite around the corner at McD's and walked a few more blocks to the National Archives. We were here 7 years ago on our last sabbatical but it had been 28 years since Mom and Dad had been here with my brother and I (we were 10 and 12 at the time). We all headed back towards the hotel before Christy and I took off for a night alone to celebrate our 13th anniversary. We had a drink at the Dubliner just a few blocks from the hotel before taking the Metro out near the White House. We walked to another pub (Elephant & Castle on 19th) and had nachos and a beer. Lastly, we walked around the White House, down to the Washington Monument, and through the bulk of the National Mall back to the hotel. Also had to have a margarita in the lo by after that longwalk.  Huge thanks to Mom and Dad for taking care of Will & Jess for a few hours!
