After getting in late and losing another hour going from central to eastern time, we slept in til 10ish. We walked the 1 block to the Florida State Capitol. It was predictably closed since it was the 4th of July. We tried briefly to "break" in before settling for a picture in front. Next stop was the Florida State campus and specifically Doak Campbell Stadium. We got in a few more pictures and drove around the stadium before we headed for breakfast at the Canopy Road Cafe. Food was pretty good and the bacon was extra (salty) awesome. After breakfast we hit the road for Orlando. We got hit by a pretty good Thunderstorm in Gainesville and Ocala and took the opportunity to get some additional supplies at the Ocala Target. Finally arrived at the (not so luxurious) Clarion Inn Lake Buena Vista around 5:30. (If you've been to Disney with Christy you know that the hotel is merely a rest stop between visits to the park. Spending a truckload of money on a nice hotel for Disney is almost like setting a pile of cash on fire. Almost.) Next stop was a visit to the Shades of Gray Disney Resort to visit our good friends, Martin and Sarah. Christy has known Sarah since the two were in grade school. Sarah and Martin currently live in the Tampa Bay area where Marrin is currently stationedin theNavy. They drove over to visit and to help us with a sweet military discount on disney/universal tickets. We had a great visit while the kids swam and watched the Lego movie. We eventually took a quick monorail trip over to Magic Kingdom to activate our passes. We were saying goodnight and goodbye (they had to head back to Tampa to finish moving onto the base) when Martin and Christy spotted 2 owls in the Shades parking lot. We finally got back to our hotel too late, around midnight. Hoping to see Sarah and Martin next weekend if their schedule works out.
